Manhattan, New York October 15 Broadway and West 96th Street

Members and supporters of Rise and Resist gathered outside the 96th Street subway station on Friday evening for the group’s weekly “Say Their Names” vigil.

Participants held an “Abolish I.C.E.” banner and memorial signs while reading aloud the names and stories of people the group says were killed by ICE agents or died in ICE custody or as a result of immigration enforcement. Rise and Resist publicly describes the action as a weekly Thursday vigil at 96th Street and Broadway from 5 to 6 p.m. We Will Win NYC

Other signs called for ICE to leave New York City and asked passersby, “How many more have to die?”

The gathering combined protest and remembrance, using names, photographs and personal stories to draw attention to the human impact participants associate with immigration enforcement.
